One of the neat things about being a Walmart Elevenmom is that I get kept in the loop on a lot of the promotions, events and news having to do with the world’s largest retailer. We get copies of many of the press releases that are sent out, although I rarely share the details with all of you-I don’t want to become “all Walmart all the time”.

However this one came across my desk early this morning with a lot of great specials and deals that will be offered early next week-I thought that some of you might still have Christmas shopping done and find the information useful.*  Especially the ZhuZhu Hamsters thing-those little guys are hot this year.

From the press release:

With only a few days left for holiday shopping, Walmart announces more big savings plans, now on the smaller and in some cases most requested gift items.  Starting Saturday and through next week, stores will have incredible savings on last minute gifts, including a Monday through Wednesday offer of $8 Zhu Zhu Pets Hamsters.  Speaking of $8 toys, Walmart is also rolling back the price on many perfect stocking stuffer toys and last minute gifts to $8 and adding a special offer with this year’s new iPod Nano to last through Christmas Eve.2

•    Sat., Dec. 19: iPod Nano with $50 iTunes Gift Card
Walmart will offer the new 8GB iPod Nano for $145 with a free $50 iTunes gift card with purchase, while supplies last, starting this Saturday through Dec. 24.

•    Sun., Dec. 20: $8 Toys and More Stocking Stuffers for Kids:
This weekend Walmart stores will introduce a new price message – $8-dollar toys, at 20 – 50 percent savings, including:
•    Jenga Hand Held game
•    Barbie Fashionista Dolls
•    Pixos Starter Pack
•    Moon Sand kit
•    Nerf-n-Force Sword
•    Little Pet Shop Deco pets

•    Mon. – Wed. Morning Events for Zhu Zhu Hamsters
Today, hundreds of thousands of these sought-after robotic hamsters are making their way to Walmart via airplanes across the country, as Walmart stores prepare to help find them a new home for Christmas.

Starting at 7 a.m. each morning of Dec. 21, Dec. 22 and Dec. 23. Walmart stores nationwide will un-cage dozens of Zhu Zhu Hamsters in special morning sales events.  Anticipating high interest, stores will be organizing lines in the hours before the 7 a.m. event each day as needed, and customers will be assigned numbers as lines build, as supplies last. Customers will be limited to one per person, and distributions will vary, with a minimum of 20 at smaller stores to more than 60 per day in most stores.

More Savings on Last Minute Gifts in Entertainment and Hardware In addition to $8 toys, Walmart will be carrying a variety of favorite hit movies of the past, now on DVD, for only $4.  In addition, Walmart’s savings of $10 on select video games and $19.96 Blu-ray hit movies of the season continues through Dec. 24.

Additional features to start this Sunday include an assortment of great Tools and Gifts for Dad, including
•    A $5 Roadmaster 12-volt Heated Stainless Steep Vacuum Mug
•    $5 Stanley 25’ Lever Lock Measuring Tape with 3 inch Mini Tape
•    $5 Winchester 12-Function Multi Tool
•    $19 TaylorMade Burner TP golf balls (pack of 12)
•    $25 Black & Decker ReadiWrench with rotating socket heads in 16 sizes.
