Sometimes it just feels like I can’t do both!
Not that I got so much accomplished this week, but I just felt as if I stopped what I was doing and sat down at the computer I would be sucked into the Internet vortex~~you know, the one where you feel like you’ve only been online for a few minutes, but then you look up and it is 2 hours later.
I love Blogging, I love being online. Somehow it satisfies my need to talk, to try to help folks (or as Yankee Bill would lovingly say “try to fix everyone’s problems”). But it is easier sometimes to talk about and think about how to do something than to actually DO it.
I can watch home decorating shows on HGTV all night instead of actually doing a single craft project or home decorating project. Likewise it is so much easier to talk about all the ways to be frugal and to organize than to actually do it. So this last week I tried to resist the temptation to sit around and talk about it, and to spend a little more time doing it.
But I will try to strike a balance and not leave you all out here with nothing to read 🙂

I know what you mean. The internet is a huge time sucker for me too- as I sit here reading my morning dose of blogs.
Just the same you have been missed. You provide a lot of great insights on living frugally and I thank you for the time you spend doing that!
It is important to make and maintain that balance and I often struggle with it too. While I want to keep up with posting, sometimes life (or work) gets in the way (ie. the past month).
One thing I’ve wanted to try is to make use of those moment when I do sit down to write for more than 5 minutes and pour out several posts that I can upload later when time is short. That way, I can still feel somewhat connected (or at least not feel guilty for not posting) and not give up my time.
Of course, that doesn’t deal with keeping up with my blog reading. I’m thinking I need to go to a more than 2-tier system since I rarely have enough time for reading all my first choice blogs anymore.
Kristi-thanks for the nice comment, it is always nice to feel that the time and effort is appreciated 🙂 And truly, I could spend all day in front of this box. The TV I could totally leave off for days at a time, but the computer-well, lets say I probably check my email about 10 times a day, even when I’m not expecting anything 🙂 At least with a blog there is always the possibility of comments.
Donna Jean-I sometimes try to have some “quick” articles ready to go. I have found that if I want to keep readers then I need to post fairly reguarly (which I feel I have always done). My biggest problem with that is that the best time for me to use the computer is the evening, and of course that is when Yankee Bill is home from work and is using it as a destressor himself. I need to remember to get out our old clunky 1996 laptop which has word capability and do a few articles now and then. . .
I just came across your blog . . . and I have to say that I empathize 100% with what you’re saying. I continue with the same sort of struggles myself.
Also, I was so excited to see where you’re living. I’m from the Binghamton area, in Chenango County. It’s so wonderful to see someone from “home” when I’m so far away!
