For those of you without kids, who don’t care about the trials and tribulations of children, and who are just here for the frugal info-please-totally ignore this post.
Buddy (3 1/2, he won’t be 4 till mid July) is finally done with potty training. Hallelujah!!!! He’s even staying dry at night.
Can I just say that after 5 1/2 years (counting the overlap from Princess to Buddy) it was SO WONDERFUL to walk into Chuck-e-Cheese last night with no diaper bag. Finally. For those of you who didn’t catch it in my sidebar “lunchbox report” last night, going to C-E-C was the “carrot” we’ve been dangling for a long time. We told the little guy if he stayed dry with no accidents for 10 days then the whole family could go. Let me tell you, the $20 something dollars for the pizza and coins was worth it (we had a coupon-always do an Internet search for a coupon if you are going there).
Now, that’s not to say that I didn’t have an extra change of clothes in the car and a spare pair of underwear for the little guy-just in case. And I’m likely to keep a bag with crayons, toy cars, coloring books etc for any time I want to keep them occupied (ie restaurants, doctors offices, peoples houses where there are no kids) but it is nice to know that I CAN leave the house without any of that stuff.
It felt for a while like this day would never come.

Ah, yes, I remember well the exhilarating feeling of freedom. The Day the Diaper Changing Died. I have four kids, and I had them all 2 to 2 1/2 years apart– so that means I changed diapers EVERY DAY for EIGHT YEARS. No more! Woo! Congrats on your newly-found freedom!
Way to go to you and Buddy! One day, I too, will be “diaper bag-less” And, I do like the lunchbox report in the sidebar.
WOO HOO!
One of those monumental moments! I just passed another one ~ youngest has her driver’s license.
What am I going to do with the extra time? lol
Way to go Buddy! It’s a big event. Before you know it, he’ll be heading off to college or moving in with his girlfriend or somesuch thing.
Hooray for Buddy! All three of my boys took that long to train, as well. It sure was nice to say goodbye to all those diapers!
