Has Jenn gone, oh where oh where can she be?????
Sorry to sort of drop off the face of the blogosphere lately. This summer has been much more hectic then I had planned.
Princess just went through a 2 week summer kindergarten orientation program, which necessitated getting both her and Buddy (cause I can’t leave a 3 year old in the house by himself and walk 3 houses down to the bus stop) up and out to the bus stop every morning for an 840 bus, then being back out there, again with Buddy in tow, at 1145. It’s amazing how those two things chopped up my day and totally messed up my planning and processes. The good thing (and frugal!) is that the program was totally free. Princess loved it-she thought riding the bus (the whole 3/4 of a mile to the school) was just the best thing ever. The program was just to get the kids used to being there, totally non academic-just fun stuff for the kids to do. Buddy on the other hand cried for the first 4 days because he wanted desperately to go on the bus as well.
Then we also started swiming lessons, which are offered completely FREE (my favorite frugal price-although DH tells me “it’s not free, we pay taxes. . .. “) at the town pool. How cool is that? I was able to arrange to have Buddy and Princess in class at the same time. This is key because I have to be in the water with Buddy, and I didn’t want to have princess waiting on the side of the pool for 30 minutes during his class, or vice versa. But the 30 minute class takes about an hour and fifteen minutes by the time you add in all of us getting changed both before and after. And this happens Mon and Tues from 6-630. So figure in trying to get the kids fed somehow on Monday because:
I’m working at the shop in town on Mon and Tues from 10-3, which is of course really fun, and leaves me plenty of time for getting the kids picked up from daycare, home and changed except:
I’ve started volunteering with a brand new nonprofit organization that has started here in town. . .to the tune of about 20 hours a week, if you count all the time I’m spending working on stuff at home. (more on that project later)
Oh, and did I mention the 3rd birthday party that I threw for Buddy on Thursday night at the campground for 22 folks (that’s kids and parents). . .
And I have even opted out of the 2 different free 4 day vacation bible schools that they offer in town. Come to think of it, my town really has a lot of great free stuff for the kids in the summer. . . .
So all of this is to say I haven’t had much time to be pounding on the ol keyboard, and when I have had time I’ve just been too wiped to deal. But I promise to do better, although probably more along the lines of 3-4 posts a week, rather than the 6 I managed for the last 6 months..
All of this has necessitated that I get myself more organized-I’ll talk about that the next post 🙂

What ever happened to relaxing summers? Now they’re busy, busy, busy. I’m looking forward to your future posts!
I wondered where you were! We’re doing swim lessons now too. We’ll have to compare notes next month. See you soon sis!
sheesh, you’ve been busy! Do you ever get a chance to sleep?
Glad to hear you are still enjoying the shop and the volunteering 🙂
And remember we all still love you even if you can’t keep up the “super mom” pace.
If you gotta be stuck paying taxes, isn’t it nice that some of it goes for the children? I’d rather send a kid to camp than buy a fancy chair for some politician’s office!
Sounds like you’re having a wonderful, busy summer!
I found your blog a little while ago and love it. My husband is in the Army, we live here in Hawaii, and I have 7 children. Is that not a reason to be frugal or what? Anyway 2 are already grown and out on there own, but still that leaves 5 kids. I know how busy we all can get. You are so lucky the town gave free lesssons. Even here on a military post, they wouldn’t be free.
Miss your posts but glad you and the kids are enjoying your summer. Ours is going way too fast. Look forward to hearing more from you.
Summer just seems to be a busier time for everyone. And the spare time you do have leads you to other hobbies. I’m sure come fall and winter, we’ll all be heavy into it again.
