Here she is in her new outfit. The shirt is full of sparkles (very important if you are a five year old girl)!
I think the backpack is about as big as she is!
And me with the kiddos (the first picture of me on this blog I think)
I’m dropping Buddy off at daycare today-this is my last day of having him in daycare when I’m not working-the rest of the fall/winter he’s in nursery school/daycare on Tues Thurs, and those are the days I’ll be working at the shop in town. So this is my last day to myself, and I’m using it to run errands and do some just for me things!!!

Cute pictures! I’m glad to see what you look like. Except for her hair color, your daughter is the image of you.
I hope the kids enjoy their school year. And I hope you enjoy your day to yourself today!
Sweet. But I feel sorry for the poor little girl, off to the public school prison ward…
Hey, we finally get to see a picture of you! I bet your little girl was so excited for school! My sons backpack this year weighs a ton and I’m amazed he can handle it every day!
This is the DH – and I happen to be a graduate from this community’s “prison ward.” I surely don’t agree with everything that goes in public schools, but ours are pretty good here and we will be PARENTING in the home too. The schools should not be expected to raise kids (although many Americans expect exactly that). Save your “anonymous” pity for people in your own family and/or school system – not members of MY Alma Mater.
Dh
Oh, DH! I had posted a response to anonymous–twice–but it’s not here. I like your response much better! Never thought to add that its the PARENTS who should do the parenting! Well said!
Not to get into the thick of it.. but anonymous probably doesn’t realize that public schools in really small towns are smaller and more intimate than some private schools in larger communities and surely cities.
We grew up in rural Maine and our “public” schools had about 15 kids per teacher and they knew when we weren’t listening in school (hummmm…me?) and even saw it on our faces when we didn’t understand something. We truly were/are lucky. I can’t say the same for some of the places I’ve lived where public schools really are in dire need of improvement.
…and the pix of the kids are great! I miss them!
What on earth is in that huge backpack? Is that the lunchbox you were talking about? Is it pink zebra stripe?
m2f-I don’t know why your comments didn’t show? I didn’t edit you, I promise.
Amanda-the contents of Princess’s backpack (which is the small jr. size LL Bean pack btw-so it could be bigger) are:
a folder (from school required to send papers back and forth)
A pencil box (which will hearafter reside in her cubby)
a sweater
an old T shirt of mine to be used as a paint smock (which will also reside at school)
Her thermos full of pink lemonaide
a paper sack with her “breakfast snack” of a strawberry bannana yogurt”
Her actual lunchbox is held in her hand and is indeed pink zebra stripe. It is Old Navy, and I bought it at a yard sale this summer for $.50
I know you didn’t edit me, sweetie. It’s a blogger thing. I was just telling anonymous that not all public schools are bad, and while I respect those who homeschool, I expect the same respect in return.
And I wanted to know why people use the name anonymous when they can use a blogger name. Do they think we cyber mommies and daddies are gonna hunt ’em down and beat ’em with a box of oatmeal?
