Well it is works for me Wednesday over at Rocks in My Dryer (click the banner to head on over and read everyones excellent tips!) Here is mine. I know this isn’t very exciting, and it is probably so basic that 99% of you already use it. But hey, it might help that other 1%, and after all, it really does work for me.
My life is usually quite chaotic, plus I’m naturally a bit disorganized (which I try to combat by being very organized, if that makes any sense). So when I have an item that I need to take with me the next morning-I put it in the car that evening as soon as I think of it. Buddy’s diaper bag, in the car. My purse, in the car (locked of course). Overdue library books, in the car. Tupperware to return to MIL, in the car.
The sooner I get it out there, the less likely I am to forget it.
Hey, it’s nothing earth shattering, but it works for me.

I’m probably too lazy to run out to the car that many times. But I could stack the stuff by the back door so I can snag it all on the way to the garage.
Hey! We disorganized types have to help each other out when we can, right?
Sometimes I do use a “staging base” to pile everything up. But with Princess (5) and Buddy (3) in the house, sometimes stuff doesn’t stay where I put it. . . . running out to the car a few times is safer in my case.
Thank you- my life is in state of disorganization since the birth of our daughter. I need all the help I can get in this department!
I have a large tote (a free one, no less) that I use to keep all my next day items. Although probably walking down the stairs and down the street to my car each time wouldn’t hurt me!
Love this idea! I am going to have to try this!
Great idea!
I do this too! It’s so helpful!
I posted a WFMW idea as well. Stop by and take a peek. 🙂
I put the items that must be remembered by the front door. Everyone understands why they are there. We also have “bags,” better known as totes, for specific purposes. All items for Church (Bibles, journals, items for another church member, pens, pencils, and believe it or not, a small lap desk for me!), the Art class that I teach as well as my son’s Spanish class go into their own “bag.” Everything is there ready to go. It is not unusual for one of us to ask, “Is the Bible bag in the car?” If an item cannot be put by the door such as an item from the refrigerator, I put a nice large note attached to the front door.
Although I have used the car method, and I feel that it works great, I much prefer the front door method. Sometimes I am remembering items when I am attired for bed!
I’m glad I’m not the only one! What I hate is when it’s some kind of perishable food item (like tomorrows lunch) that I want to remember to bring. You can’t hardly put it in your car (unless it’s winter and cold), so I haven’t figured that one out yet. Inevitably, I forget it. Maybe if I put my keys in the fridge on top of it I would be forced to find it!
I do this too because I tend to forget stuff when life gets particularly stressful (like trying to get all kids, dressed, shoed, and buckled in the car):)
So simple, but so helpful! I’m going to do this for the next errand “marathon”.

You must have picked this up subliminaly. I have done this for many years. However, as been mentioned; nothing that freezes! Regards, from Bones.
I have a friend who has a post-it note on the front-door that says ‘lunch’ to remind him to collect it from the fridge.
It seems to work – but always makes me smile.
And you save a lot of time by skipping the moments thinking, “Now, there was something I really had to do/take today…”
Love this! I do this, and my husband just doesn’t get it. He can *remember* to take things every day, and it’s beyond him why I’ve gotta pile it all in the truck the night before. I also keep extras of most important things in my diaper bag and an extra check folded up in my glove compartment 🙂
