Quick Tip 1/28

January 28, 2006 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 3 Comments

I don’t buy liquid hand soap anymore. I go to the dollar store and buy the largest size bubble bath/body wash I can find. Yesterday at Real Deals for a Dollar in Norwich I got a bottle of 33.5 oz (plumeria scented-mmmm) for, of course, a dollar. That will last me for a couple of months in 2 bathrooms and the kitchen. I’ve been doing this for about 6 months, and noone has noticed the difference at all.

As a side note, I only ever fill the dispenser in the bathroom that the kids use 1/3 of the way up. That way even if they manage to spill the whole thing, I am not losing as much soap as I could be. . .

Great idea. I never thought of that.

I do add bubblebath (from the dollar store) to the bathroom toilet brush container. When I want to wash the toilet the soap is already there. Smells good too and encourages me to clean it more frequently.

Frankly speaking I don’t understand why you have stopped buying liquid hand soap. Is there any reason? Also if you have a good soap recipe, please post it here. I’d love to have it in my new collection of soap recipes here. thanks.

    anon-

    Here is my reasoning:

#1-I think that a bar of soap seems to last longer than a bottle of liquid soap, plus it is cheaper per oz usually.

#2-I have small children who tend to pump and pump the soap, which leads to it being used up even faster. You can’t do that to a bar of soap 🙂
