Quick Tip-Frugal Fruit Fly Trap

September 11, 2007 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 2 Comments

Is anyone else having fruit fly issues?

I am overwhelmed with produce right now-mostly tomatoes. And of course, since I haven’t gotten to them right away they have attracted/grown/created fruit flies.

I’ve tried a couple of methods in the past, but nothing seemed to work very well. Just a few minutes ago I found a recipe on Tammy’s Recipes for a fruit fly trap. It is very frugal-just wine vinegar and dishsoap.

I just made two and left them in the kitchen. I’ll give you a review in the morning!

Those sticky tape fruit fly traps that do not contain poison work well for me. Annette They are’nt too expensive either.

Well, I only got about 6 flies in the vinegar solution. I bought some fly strips and they are doing a bit better. I think it will just be a bit icky till I get through with the “ripening half green tomatoes on the counter” stage. . . .
