Have you ever been half way through a recipe and realized that you were out of a crucial ingredient? Or been scrambling to make dinner (for shame-you need a menu plan) and had the perfect recipe-except for that one item?
Who wants to run out to the store for just one thing? You waste gas, suffer inconvenience (especially if you are in the middle of baking) and are likely to pick it up at the closest, and most costly, place (like the gas station down the street).
Well here is a quick frugal tip for you! Just search online for a substitution. You can do a regular Google search-for example just go to Google’s site and type “baking powder substitute” into the search box.
Another option is to go online and find (and/or bookmark) a chart like this Common Substitutions chart at Allrecipes.com.
Viola! Recipe crisis averted without a costly trip to the store.

Thanks for that link. Who hasn’t run into this situations! My kids think I’m the substitution queen already, now I’ll be even worse, or better, depending on how you look at it!
I actually printed off a conversion chart and taped it to the inside of my spice cabinet. It is a LIFE saver!!!
