Stouffer’s Lets Fix Dinner Blogger Roundtable-Here I Come!

April 25, 2009 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 3 Comments

Next week I leave for the Stouffer’s “Let’s Fix Dinner” Blogger Roundtable in Cleveland OH.

Stouffer’s is really doing this up right. They sent me a extremely well organized welcome packet, a luggage tag (for the trip), a thumb drive*, and a really classy glazed stoneware casserole dish. Not only are they flying us out and putting us up, but we also were given the option between a flip video camera (which I already have) or a gift certificate to buy a new camera.

So, what is “Let’s Fix Dinner“? Well here’s a cool little video to explain:

I have always believed that eating dinner as a family was important. I grew up with our family eating together as often as possible. Oh, the conversations we had! Days discussed, vocabulary words learned (my dad was famous for his “go look it up” reply-we had a big dictionary in the den specifically for that.) Since there were 7 of us, and we are all gregarious by nature, it was a very “exuberant” dinner table. One of my college boyfriends, having spent a dinner with us, said “You folks practice Kamikaze conversation!”. . . . oh, you mean we are supposed to wait until people are finished before we start the next sentence and/or topic?

Because Stouffer’s believes eating dinner as a family is important, they have come up with the “Let’s Fix Dinner” challenge. Anyone (not just the roundtable bloggers) can enter. You set a goal for family dinners together, than you update your status each week. By registering a goal you are also automatically entered in the sweepstakes. Then for each week you update it you are entered again! There are tons of great prizes.

Additionally Stouffer’s will make a donation to Feeding America for each registration! Just sign up and a donation goes to charity. How frugal, and wonderful, is that?

I’m not sure exactly how this round table will roll out-but they have invited an impressive cast of characters assembled! There is a panel of really impressive experts assembled for the roundtable. A Pediatric Clinical Psychologist, Cookbook Authors, Family Therapist, Celebrity Chefs, and even someone from the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse. . . add in 15 very intelligent, educated and outspoken bloggers and-well-I’m sure there are going to be some truly fantastic outcomes from the roundtable.

I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Oh, and don’t worry, there will be regularly scheduled posts while I am away! I won’t leave you all pining for some good content šŸ˜‰

Have fun! Wish I was coming with you! I had to turn down this invite because I have a house full of family this weekend for my son’s First Holy Communion and I am Chairing a major event at school (for 500 people) this Friday and then have 60 people at my house on Saturday for my 40th birthday party. There was no way to fit Ohio in to all that without me landing in the loony bin! šŸ˜‰

Sounds like a great event. I signed up for the challenge and I can’t wait to hear all about it while you’re there.
