Well, I’m back from vacation and ready to start the rest of the summer. For us it is like summer just started, as our 2 week vacation odyssey began by picking Princess up from her last day of school.
I may not have had a lot of time to post on vacation, but I did have a lot of time to think. Sitting in the car as a passenger for hours and spending time camping will do that for you! I spent a lot of that time thinking about my priorities and goals for the next few months. I’ll post a bit more about the goals later.
As far as priorities go, my husband and children come first, with taking care of my job as a wife and homemaker second. The problem is I have let myself get caught up in a bunch of volunteer, church and hobby activities (including this blog) and have been neglecting the “homemaking” part of that lately.
Also with summer here for a short 2 months (July and August, then back to school in Sept) I want to maximize the amount of time I spend with my kids. After all, they are only children once, and I intend to fully appreciate this age where they actually LIKE having me around and WANT my time and attention. Soon enough they will be “smelly teenagers” as I like to tease them. (As in “I can’t wait until you are smelly teenagers and I have to drag your lazy butts out of bed in the morning instead of you all waking up EVERY MORNING at 630 am)
To that end I have decided to modify my summer posting schedule. As my frequent readers know, I usually post daily, with a hiatus on Sunday. I like to think that most of my posts are well written with appropriate links and interesting information. Doing that takes some time-plus when I write I tend to spend more time online reading as well. To cut back on my blog/computer time and spend more time getting my household under control I feel that I have two options. I can either dash off quicker posts, or I can continue with the length and quality that I have historically done and just post less frequently.
I am choosing the latter. For the summer my intended posting schedule will be 3 times a week with a possible weekend post added in. I intend to post Monday, Wednesday and Friday-the Wednesday post will be a Festival of Frugality roundup, with Monday and Friday being whatever topics catch my fancy.
I may fill in short “quick tips” or “reader tips” on additional days, but don’t count on it!
I hope you all understand!

Good for you! I know how hard it is to prioritize and am trying to figure all of that out myself. I am sure everyone will understand!
I am real busy too. I appreciate your blog. It is very helpful. Another hint someone told me is be sure to fuel up your vehicle at night as gas expands so, you get less filling up during the day (especially hot summer days). They say this can save at least $700.00 a year possibly. Have a great week and thanks. Annette. You may want to try more freebie sights to try products before you buy so, you won’t waste money by buying something you don’t like.
I love reading your blog and will miss a daily post; however, knowing that you are doing so to spend time on the most important things in life, will make the posts you do write even more relevant. God bless you and your family! Jayne
Enjoy your relaxed summer schedule and do lots of fun stuff with Buddy & Princess!
I am glad you chose quality over quantity! It is the quality of your posts that keep me coming back… Enjoy your summer!
There are so many worthy and enjoyable activities to participate in, but only so many hours a day. Congratulations on deciding to do a few things well and opting out of others and keeping your family and home first priority.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate the support!
