I just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone who has continued to read despite my sporadic posting lately. I know that I haven’t had as many interesting things to say lately. As Meredith pointed out in a comment a few weeks back-sometimes the way to be frugal is NOT to do a lot of things, and that isn’t very fun to read about.
Basically here at the Frugal Upstate household we’ve been pretty much staying the course. I’ve been trying to cook from the freezer and pantry and keep the trips to the grocery store to a minimum until we get used to the way the monthly expenditures go in this house. We’ve kept the thermostat down, worn sweaters and socks around the house, and piled the beds with blankets at night. I haven’t done very much Christmas shopping (see, not doing things), but found that the things I bought on sale earlier in the year, and the things I have in the gift box will mostly take care of the kiddos and our friends that we buy for annually-see. I will have to buy a few things (maybe even this afternoon).
Mostly I’ve just been working, doing unglamorous things like unpacking boxes, trying to organize and find homes for things (without buying any new organizational geegaw’s-again with the not doing anything mentality), at the same time trying to finish bringing the last few things down from the old house, and keeping up with the daily living things like cooking, laundry and some semblance of cleaning 🙂
Oh, and with the holidays we are trying to maintain the normalcy for the kiddos and had to take time to decorate (again, mostly without buying anything new-except for our annual Christmas village house and some extra train track) and do the main holiday things that they will remember.
But it is all getting on track. . . and I hope you’ve all noticed that the posts are getting more frequent. I hope to be back to my almost daily posting schedule by the time the holidays are over.
So again, thank you all for sticking around and waiting it out with me. I appreciate it.

No, Thank you and Happy Holidays!! Annette
Happy Holidays, Jenn! I think you are doing a great job, especially with all that is going on. I know that it is sometimes hard to blog when we aren’t doing things. I feel that way often 🙂 Thank you for sharing what you guys are up to!
