Frugal Upstate is all about learning how to save money! I believe that being frugal is not about being cheap, but about making smart choices about how to spend your money, not wasting it on the unimportant stuff so you have plenty of money for whatever it is you DO find important. I am a former US Army Officer (11 years) and current SAHM of two wonderful children, Buddy 3 1/2, and Princess 5, as well as loving wife to Yankee Bill. We live in Upstate New York (hence the name) in a town very like Mayberry-somewhere between Binghamton and Norwich (I can’t give away all of my secrets now can i?
So I was talking about being frugal so you can spend your money on important stuff? Well what is the important stuff? Well, that is totally up to each individual. I give some of my thoughts about that and related philosophies it in my articles on:
Time vs. Money
Conscious Spending
The Journey to Becoming Frugal
What Does Frugal Look Like?
As you cruise around my blog you’ll find lost of tips and tricks, as well as plenty of information on cooking and food. It always seems like food (both preparation and eating) is the heart of a home, and it tends to be one of the areas where it is easiest and most effective to conserve your dollars!
Another thing I usually do is to post a weekly “roundup” of the Festival of Frugality. The Festival comes out on Tuesdays, and I always post a link to the Festival and short summary of a few of my personal favorites. This weeks Festival Roundup can be found HERE.
So please, browse around and enjoy yourself. I’ve made some of my favorite homemade frugal snacks-Deviled Eggs!
***NOTE*** I’ve added a newer post farther up the line in response to a lovely award that Jess over at Making Home awarded me that includes links to a whole bunch of my articles on Frugal Fun, Frugal Gifts, Frugal Skills (sewing), Works for Me Wednesday and Quick Tips-So click on over to HERE and check that out as well!

Hello and welcome to the party, I am number 287 on that big list :o)
Welcome to the party and great blog. I’m working on being frugal. Buying a house and becoming a SAHM in the same month require it. I’ll be sure to stop back.
Hello! I just joined the party (I am always running late!) I thought I’d stopped by and check out some blogs! Love reading it!

Jenn,
Nice to meet you. I was raised in the military. Dad was a CMSgt in the Air Force when he retired. I love your articles. I’ll definately be back, I could use all the frugal help I can get. DH and I are following the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University and are trying to get better at our choices. I agree, it is ALL about choices!
