Upset that is. . . .
What do you all think?
I was checking my sitemeter and found a hit from this neat site called “Tipnut”. She seems to have a great site full of tips. As far as I could tell, there was no advertising, so it wasn’t one of those aggregate sites that steals your post wholesale and reposts it and then trys to sell advertising based off it.
She did a post today where she mentioned my tip about making cut flowers last-she did a quote, and provided the link, but then totally gave a summary of the post-pretty much negating the need for anyone to click on over. Then she did add on some additional information from another source. (Unlike this other post where someone totally just reprinted my entire article on why aprons are frugal, even though she did post a link. Who is going to bother when they just read the entire article. Uh hello!)
Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about that. What do you all think?

The Tipnut post doesn’t bother me so much, but I would be very upset about the apron post. I would ask the owner to remove your text immediately, leaving only the link, a summary, and a short quotation to excerpt.

problem with the apron thing is the only way to leave a comment was to “join” their website, which I didn’t want to do, and there was no way to “email me”-I checked. Urgh!

Well, this is a form of flattery, I guess. I, too, have more of a problem with the wholesale lifting of the article on aprons. The other blog indicates it’s an online collection of tips, and more information was added to what you had provided. I do think that, in both cases, if the reader is looking for more information along those lines, they may follow the link to your site. (You would certainly be well within your rights to demand that the article on aprons be removed.)

I found this email on a post on that blog site:
service@ameliasaprons.com
it appears they also sell aprons at http://www.ameliasaprons.com
You might try contacting them there.
I think it was quite shady of them as well.

Sounds like plagiarism (sp?) to me! Could you possibly ‘join’ just long enough to post a comment, and then ‘unjoin’?
Shreela says
Maybe if you made a post about your acceptable reposting/quoting policy, then linked it under your ‘about me’ area, then hopefully when others link you they’d know how much was allowed.

I know this article and comments were posted a long time ago, but as I was looking through technoranti’s stats I came across this post and had to come to you and apologize.
I meant no disrespect to you. I am not a big blogger and so I search the internet for interesting articles on aprons. You know, there is only so much you can say about them 🙂 My site is dedicated to people who love them and so I am always searching for great reads about them. When I first started blogging I ask a few people about proper ways to repost articles and was told by all whom I asked that it was generally acceptable as long as a link was posted to the author. So, that is what I did.
I in no means meant to plagiarize your work and although I posted your whole article Your catchy blog name was enough to spark my interest to go to your site, so I thought it would be enough for others too.
I will remove your article from my site and hope that you will bear me no ill will. It was done in innocence and I am sorry.
Blessings to you and yours
