Water Water everywhere. . .

June 29, 2006 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 6 Comments

Well, we are directly in the flood areas in upstate NY. Luckily we live on high ground. Other than having a boil water advisory, we are fine. The folks down by the river that cuts through town are not doing so well. Our town ballfield is right by the river, and the waters are up to the top of all the picnic shelters still, and both ball diamonds are covered-to a depth of about 6 feet. Today was beautiful out, but this evening there are supposed to be more thunderstorms. Make sure you pray for all the folks displaced by these floods.

If you want to watch a video from our local news station, here is a link to an article-you can click on the video icon next to the picture. It has a very annoying commercial first, but it isn’t that long. Then you’ll get an incredible ariel view of the flooded river (they were traveling west from Binghamton, and I live east-but the devestation is similar)

I’m glad you are okay, but that’s just so sad about the damage the flooding has done. I saw a picture of that road that was cut by the flood. I hear two truckers died there. What a shame.
Here on Long Island, I’m on the North Shore so flooding isn’t too much of a problem here (we’re higher up), but my bil and sil and baby nephew are right on the water on the South Shore. I wonder if they will ever have to evacuate this summer! I hope not!

Oh, dear–I came back to see if there was anything new and found the annoying ‘anonymous’ comment above. Is it possible for these blogs to refuse anonymous comments? Hey, I’m as open-minded as the next person, but if I want a link to playmates (and obviously he ain’t talkin’ kindergarten), I’ll look on my own, thank you.

So…has the water started to recede? Are you still boiling?

I’m glad you are alright! It is awful – all the devastation and loss of life.

I know you can turn off the anonymous comments – but that makes it so some visitors you do want can’t comment. I thought the word verification was supposed to protect from this?

Well, I deleted it. Obviously someone is individually doing them. . .. what a pain.

Some individual, Jenn? You mean, “some loser with nothing better to do!”
