Works for Me Wednesday-DVD Management.

June 7, 2006 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 13 Comments

Good Morning, and welcome to Works for Me Wednesday, the brilliant idea of Shannon over at Rocks in My Dryer. The idea is for everyone to share little organizational tips each Wednesday. They don’t have to be anything earthshattering, just something that “Works for Me”. For the complete list for this Wednesday, click on the banner.

This weeks tip is short and sweet. About 2 years ago I started keeping all of our DVDs (which are 99.9% kids movies) in a travel CD case. I have two cases. The first one was originally bought to house CDs 5 or 6 years ago, the second is one I picked up at the Dollar Store for, you guessed it, a dollar. So implementing this tip can be pretty frugal.

Now when we take a long trip in the car and hook up the DVD player in there, I can just grab the case. Ditto for when we head over to Nana’s house for the evening and need to keep the kiddos occupied. The extra bonus is that it clears up space by getting rid of all those jewel cases, which I heartlessly threw away. Well, ok, I kept a couple in case I needed to mail or store a CD-Rom.

That would totally solve a dilemma at our place! I’m all, DUH! Why didn’t I think of that?

    Good WFMW tip. Thanks!

I have been considering doing this. Not that we have a DVD player in the car, but I would love to reclaim the space taken up by those plastic cases. Thanks for urging me to actually do it!

What a great idea. Now I need to find a way to condense my VHS tapes. They take up most of the room at our home. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, no ideas on the VHS tapes. They take up a lot of room at my house too. Does it make you feel any better to know that the stores are phasing them out now??
