Well, we are heading to our first birthday party of the school year today-although undoubtably not our last!
I was so happy to be able to do the frugal, and easy thing and go to my gift box (which is actually a portion of the closet under our stairs) and pull out a Doodle Bear that I had bought 6 months ago at Aldi’s on sale for $7. Actually I bought 3 of them, this is the second one I’ve used as a gift.
My only problem with the gift box concept is not overdoing it and picking up too many gifts and then never using them. When I first started the gift box I picked up several “miscellaneous” adult gifts for holidays and housewarmings, little candles and things like that. I have since realized that I really don’t exchange gifts with many adults, and those I do I shop very specifically for. So even though I got the things at a deep discount, the money has essentially be wasted.
For a card for this party I went to DLTK-Kids and printed off a disney princess card for my Princess to color in. Viola-attending a birthday party and spending only $7.

Good job! pat, pat, pat (on back, of course)
Gifts. They’re like a “friendship tax”. Thanks for being inspiring in how to save without being miserly. (I often struggle with miserliness in the area of gifts.)
I don’t exchange many gifts with adults, either. I have a few things in my gifty box for grownups, but we’re even beyond the point of teacher gifts. In fact, I was just wondering the other day exactly what I do have in there, LOL! I should check!
