Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Drop Cookies

What do you do when bananas go brown?  Sure you can make banana bread, freeze them for smoothies or make my awesome Banana Bars. . . but sometimes you are just in the mood for something a bit different.  Why not try these great Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies?  They are a simple to make drop cookie–and the oatmeal and banana give them a bit of a nutritional (and fiber) punch.Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies

Banana Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Drop Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 C flour
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 3/4 C shortening
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1 C mashed bananas
  • 1 3/4 C quick oats
  • 1/2 C chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees

  2. Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon.

  3. Cut shortening into the flour mixture.

  4. Add remaining ingredients except chocolate chips and mix until completely blended.

  5. Fold in chocolate chips.

  6. Drop by the tablespoon onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
