Recipe: Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream

October 15, 2009 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate 9 Comments

I posted my recipe for Homemade Amaretto last week and reader Joyce asked if perchance I had a recipe for Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream.

Well yes, as a matter of fact I do! This is suitable for gift giving-but remember, it contains cream & condensed milk (although my recipe doesn’t have raw eggs like many others) so it must be refrigerated.

This is sinfully good in milkshakes or coffee-just don’t share with the kiddos!

Homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream

1 C Cream

14oz can Sweetened Condensed Milk

2 C Whiskey

1 tsp Instant Coffee

2 TBS Chocolate Syrup

1 tsp Vanilla extract

1 tsp Almond extract

-Mix all ingredients together and refrigerate overnight.

-Keep refrigerated & use within 3 weeks.

    Jenn, I don’t buy whiskey as a rule, so what’s a good, frugal brand/

Um. uh. I don’t usually buy it very often either. I would say that just about anything that isn’t “bob’s whiskey” would work-after all you are adding a lot of other flavors to it! I’d say something like Wild Turkey is fine.

Thanks. I did some reading and came up with Evan Williams Black Label, but mentioned it to my husband, and you should have seen the look I received! He’s a die hard Crown Royal fan, but I can’t see him letting me pollute it with anything else.

I don’t think I’d waste Crown Royal, Makers Mark or anything like that on a drink that was going to have so much other stuff mixed in 🙂
