Last week Walmart and Better Homes and Gardens had a special live webcast on how to prepare your home for the holidays. There were tips on making your guest room more welcoming, setting a holiday table, and decorating your home–along with some special guest designers and bloggers. If you missed it, don’t worry–I’ve got the recorded version at the bottom of this post.
Since Thanksgiving is now only a few weeks away they asked me to share the favorite tip I picked up from the show. Now Max (you remember Max from BHG? He usually comes to the holiday trip down at Walmart HQ and has given us lots of great ideas and tips, like the ideas on how to make a great gift basket or the glitzy holiday napkin rings) gave a lot of great tips throughout the webcast, but this is my absolute favorite because it’s not only quick, easy and inexpensive. . . but it’s also useful.
A Wifi Password Picture Frame!

That’s right–everyone these days seems to have a smartphone, tablet or ipod. . . why make your guest ask for the password? Save yourself the embarrassment of admitting you don’t remember what it is (I mean really–when was the last time you had to actually remember it? It’s already programmed into all your devices!) and then have to go digging through things to find it.
It’s super easy to do. Just head out to Walmart and buy a nice Better Homes and Gardens frame that goes with your decor. (I like the Alvia ornate frame I chose)

Pick a font you like and print out a welcoming message along with you network name and password in the center of a sheet of paper. Print it out and fit it into the frame. That’s it!
I also like to keep a basket full of “convenience” items in my guest room. A spare hair dryer, washcloth, toothbrush & paste, nail files, mini sewing kit, some little hotel lotion-shampoo-conditioners, a small package of trail mix. The little things a houseguest might need.
Enjoy!
