Every family has their little Christmas gifting traditions. When I was growing up my mom used to always make sure we each got, among our gifts, a book and some music (tape or CD back in those days). For some families it may be an orange in their stocking, a new pair of pajamas, or some favorite candy. One of the traditions Yankee Bill and I have is giving each other perfume and cologne!
Walmart has all your favorite fragrances available–Yankee Bill is a “Preferred Stock” guy and I ALWAYS buy him a gift set at Walmart for Christmas. My tastes change–he just picks me out something he likes the smell of 🙂
One of the things I really thought was nice this year was the special fragrance displays at Walmart. Sure–they still have both the regular fragrance aisle over by the cosmetics, and some of the gift sets over in the special holiday gifting section. . . but there was this cool stand alone fragrance display as well. What made it really useful was the tester bottles provided so you could actually smell some of the perfumes and colognes that are available. Love that!
Smelling great doesn’t have to cost a fortune either–many of the nice gift sets that included either multiple scents or multiple items for the same scent (say body lotion and perfume) were under $15. That makes it an affordable gift.
Walmart offered to send me something from their fragrance gift sets to try–so I accepted. You can never have enough “smell pretty” stuff! When my box arrived it was the $14.88 gift set for Stetson with three different scents: Stetson, Stetson Caliber, and Stetson Black. Since I have already picked up a box of the Preferred Stock for Yankee Bill, I think I’m going to gift Buddy with the Stetson set. Even though he’s just 11, it’s never too young to teach him that men aren’t supposed to STINK–and that when you are dressed nicely part of that is smelling great as well. He has no interest in girls yet, but he does go to the school dances. . . between that, church and the occasional family event he has a some occasions where a spritz of cologne would be appropriate.
