I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating.
This year I was selected as a Sprint Ambassador, which means over the course of 10 months I get to play with some really great new phones and accessories! So far I’ve shared the Sprint HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon edition along with a Harman Kardon Onyx Studio Bluetooth speaker and the water resistant Kyocera Hydro Vibe. Now my latest phone to try has been the Samsung Galaxy S 5 Sport!
So the first thing I liked about this phone was the color it comes in a cherry red and an electric blue! Pretty pretty!

As I read up on the phone I realized that the blue was more than just a pretty color–it was a built in water and dust resistant case! The phone even reminds you to check the battery cover and make sure it’s on tightly so that it will be water resistant. It has hard buttons (which are easier to use if your hands are wet and/or sweaty) and a textured case you can keep your grip on.

So the “Sport” in the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport’s name isn’t just a cute marketing ploy–this really is a smartphone created for that sporty health conscious individual. To make this phone Samsung collaborated with health and fitness market leaders Under Armour and MapMyFitnessIt to develop a platform with unique features just for the athletic individual (or someone like me just trying to increase their health).
The integrated S Health™ partner† makes it fun and accessible to work on your fitness goals. Track your steps, map your run, refuel with on-demand nutrition info—even check your pulse with the built-in heart rate sensor that responds to your touch. And for those who choose the great outdoors for exercising, Activity Zone launches features like a compass and stopwatch to make every movement outside matter.
That’s right, this phone has a built in heart rate monitor! How cool is that? There is a special sensor right below the camera on the back. You just open up S Health, choose the Heart Rate option and follow the directions. My resting heart rate was 55 🙂

There are lots of other cool options in S Health–like being able to use your phone as a pedometer. Once you choose that option it keeps track of your steps right there on the home screen (that’s the little sneaker and the 35 below–I just turned it on for a few minutes and walked in the house so I could show you the display–they say the average adult should aim for 10,000 steps a day)

You can track your workouts, count your calories, graph your weight over time and even, with the help of a Samsung Galaxy Gear Fit you can even monitor you sleep! Of course it keeps track of all this using Sprints 4G LTE Network and GPS coverage.
Besides all that it’s got a long lasting battery (over 10 hours), a great 5.1″ Immersive HD display, and a nice Fast Action 16MP Camera, with pro editing tools. What more could you want?

Great review Jen, my mom just got thus phone and thus far absolutely loves it.
