Made in the USA — for Mother’s Day

May 2, 2015 By Jenn @ Frugal Upstate Leave a Comment

I’m a big fan of American Manufacturing.  I personally believe that America is at it’s best when we are making things.  That’s why I’ve been so happy to share with you on Walmart’s behalf  over the last two years, their promise to source $250 billion (with a B) dollars of product here in the USA over a 10 year time frame.

According to the company, sourcing products in America has already had some great benefits in the two years since the commitment started:

Producing products closer to the point of consumption allows Walmart to react more quickly to customer demand and to reduce costs in the system for transportation, energy and inventory.

Suppliers in the US are finding they have lots of ways to sell their products–either online, regionally or across all of Walmart.

The promise is having impacts in communities across the country putting people back to work–communities are being revitalized and factories built

Customers say that where a product is made is second only to price–and now they have more Made in the USA options than ever.

Suppliers are responding by improving packaging labeling.

Walmart is investing in American Jobs–and that’s something I like to see!

There are lots of products you can find in your local store that are Made in the USA, but if you head online to Walmart.com they have a special “American Jobs” shop set up so you can find all of the products in one place!

This Mother’s Day why not show mom you care, and support a great program by buying a Made in the USA product for Mom?  Walmart sent us a few of the items they thought would make a good gift:

Made in the USA for Mother's Day

Some comfy Ped’s Socks, a cute planter with some flower seeds and a bird house!

Those are great, but I thought I’d head online to see what to put on my own Mother’s Day wish list from the American Job’s shop.

First I stopped by the jewelry section.  While I’m not personally in the market for a new wedding band, I thought it was great to see so many Made in America options there!   These Black Hills Gold 10Kt earrings were very pretty, and a gift this mom would like!

Gold EarringsI already have this exact Lodge Camping Dutch Oven–but if I didn’t, I’d want it 🙂

I could use a new hard sided pistol case for the range:

As you can see, there is a wide variety of options.  So swing by Walmart and buy American for this Mother’s Day–and while you are there, don’t forget to pick up a card and some fresh flowers as well 🙂
