So why am I talking about Mall Cop 2? Because Tuesday, July 14th (that’s tomorrow) the sequel to the 2008 box office success, Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 exclusive two pack (including Paul Blart Mall Cop) will be available at Walmart in-stores and online nationwide for only $24.87.
I was sent a copy of this two pack:
They also sent me some fun stick on mustaches and mugs, and asked me to throw a little party for some family and friends. My kiddos are both getting ready to head out to camp for a bit, so I thought this would be a perfect excuse to have some of their friends over before they leave.
Since I have the movie, the entertainment was taken care of, but a party isn’t a party without some snacks. Chips, soda and popcorn are an obvious, but I decided to have a bit of fun. The Paul Blart character is known for his distinctive black mustache so I opted for a mustache theme (Note–this would also be a cool theme for that hard to plan for Tween/Teen birthday party!).
My very first thought was that I could make some mustache shaped cookies–but then I figured “What are the chances I’ll be able to find a mustache cookie cutter at Walmart?”. You could have knocked me over with a feather when I found one in the baking/decorating aisle! And it was only $.74! I also picked up one of these cool new “sugar sheets” (in black) that Wilton has. I figured I could cut out some little mustaches to decorate cupcakes.
I used meringue powder from the baking aisle to make my royal icing. It took fully HALF of that jar of food coloring to make the icing go from gray to black! It was worth it though–the cupcakes and cookies came out so cute!
Time to fess up here. I normally make sugar cookies from scratch, but this was a sort of last minute party and I was a bit stressed thinking about making the cookies and chilling them. That’s when I saw the Great Value Sugar Cookie Mix. I have a really good friend who uses the mix for her Christmas cookies and she is always talking about how EASY it is. So I decided that in the interest of time I’d use the mix. You just mixed in softened butter and an egg and you could roll it right out immediately and cut them. From start to finish they were in the oven in half an hour. There are times for homemade, and times for using the convenience of a mix 🙂
Finally, I found these really cool “Popz” popcorn buckets for a dollar each–you pop them in the microwave, pull off the plastic and you are ready to go.

The kids all had fun sporting the stick on mustaches, eating the munchies and watching the movie.

We even had my little niece stop by part way through to enjoy a couple of the cookies–isn’t she cute?
The movie was good clean family fun–a bit silly/slapstic, but that’s what you are watching it for. It also had a really sweet message about family.
It was a fun movie and a fun time, so grab your copy at Walmart today. You can multiply your fun with the official Paul Blart Mall Cop 2 Facebook Q&A Tuesday 7pm ET/ 4pm PT with Kevin James
