I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Zappos.com. I received product samples to facilitate my review

A few weeks ago I told you about my hassle free Back to School shopping with Zappos.

Back to School Purchases from Zappos.com

For each of my kids I ordered a pair of back to school shoes, a sweatshirt, and a raincoat.  Buddy also got a pair of pants.  Have you been wondering how they like them?

Back to school sneakers from Zappos

Princess wasn’t sure about the Van’s slip on sneakers with the aqua checkboard at first.  That’s not to say she didn’t love them–she chose them because she thought they were cool.  But when she first put them on the silhouette was so different from a standard lace up sneaker that she was uncertain.  The longer she’s had them, the more she has worn them and the more she likes them.  It doesn’t hurt that her classmates think they are cool too!  Buddy knew right off the bat that he wanted a pair of canvas lace up shoes.  As soon as he saw the Levis ones with the leather section on the back he was sold.  For an 11 year old boy, he has very definite ideas about what is cool.  Those shoes are cool.  So are his black glasses.

Back to school sweatshirts with Zappos

For the sweatshirts I tried to order big to get as much use as possible out of them.  Kids just keep growing–it’s so inconvenient!  Well, not when they get old enough to do the dishes and clean the bathrooms. . . I figured I’d be pretty safe purchasing larger sizes in the sweatshirts as it’s typically an item that is worn loose.  Buddy is in about 12, so I ordered the Van’s Sweatshirt in a 14/16.  As you can see it looks just fine and has room to grow without being obviously too large.  Princess’s Nike Hoody is a large. . . but I don’t know that she will get two years out of it.  Regardless it fits well and is both useful and stylish, so we consider that a win.  These two items have been worn TONS already this school year–we’ve got weather that is frequently in the high 50’s when the kids head to school but in the 70’s by mid afternoon.  A good quality sweatshirt is a wardrobe staple!  Princess loves the bright Aqua color (it’s one of her favorites) and how the pattern is only on one half of the hoody.  Buddy wanted the simple gray (again–definite ideas) and thinks “Vans” anything is cool anyway.

Back to school Raincoats from Zappos

The North Face raincoats again were ordered large.  My kids walk to school year round, so dealing with fall and spring rain is a must.  While the jackets are waterproof, they don’t look like the plastic slickers I grew up with and can be worn as a light coat or a windbreaker even if it isn’t raining.   We’ve been lucky to not need to pull the coat out for a rainy day yet, but it’s coming!

The Nike Training pants we ordered for Buddy fit fine and are well made–but the side stripe was a much more vibrant neon-ish coral/melon rather than a standard orange.   Buddy gave a rather lackluster “I guess I could wear it”.  Since the pants come with a variety of strip color options we decided to use Zappos amazing return policy to send them back and get a different color.  Easy-Peasy!

Zappos has tons of great brands to choose from too:  Nike, Stride Rite, New Balance, Converse, Keen, Pediped, Under Armour, Northface, Patagonia, Roxy, Volcom, Splendid & Tommy Hillfiger just to name a few!

Here’s a refresher on exactly what we chose:

For Buddy:

Vans Kids Classic Zip Hoodie

Nike Kids Essentials Training Pant

The North Face Kids Zipline Rain Jacket

Levi’s® Kids Jordy Buck

For Princess

Nike Kids Jersey FZ Hoody

The North Face Kids Resolve Reflective Jacket

Vans Classic Slip Ons
