Review: Oral B Professional Care 1000

I’m a big believer in regular dental care–I guess it’s because my mom was always big on it.  Growing up she made sure all five of us went to the dentist every 6 months.  We got fluoride treatments, regular x-rays and when they first came out with those dental sealants for your rear molars she made sure we got ours done.    I really appreciate the efforts she took–all of my siblings and I have great teeth and I frequently get comments from dental hygienists about how healthy my teeth are.

I’ve continued the regime with my own kids.  Every 6 months we are at the dentist getting everyone cleaned and checked.  That part’s easy–I pile them all in the car and they have to go.  Getting them to brush at home has always been more of a challenge.  So I was surprised how excited Princess got when I received the Oral B Professional 100 electric toothbrush to review for Walmart.  I mean really-she’s an 11 year old girl that I have to hound to brush her teeth.

Apparently she’s always wanted an electric toothbrush.  Who knew?
So this toothbrush comes with a charging stand, the power unit an disposable brush heads.  We also received a second package of 3 heads.  I plugged it in and let it charge overnight before trying it out.

So it’s hard to see on the photo here, but the top and bottom row of blue brushes are a lighter blue than the side ones.  Those light blue bristles are made to fade to white on the ends after time.  When that happens, it’s time to change the brush!

I was interested to see what the motion of the brush was.  The round top part rotates left and right rather than just vibrating back and forth.  Apparently there are also different kinds of heads that you can buy–for different uses.

This video shows you the type of  “oscillating” motion:

I tried out the toothbrush.  I found the sensation of the electric toothbrush to be a bit odd at first-it was stronger than I thought and I had to back off a bit from how hard I was pressing it onto my teeth.  But it wasn’t an unpleasant sensation–and my teeth did feel very smooth & clean when I was done.  I put a new head on and let Princess try it too.  She told me that she LOVES it and that it makes her teeth feel 10X cleaner, takes less time, and is in all ways better than her other toothbrush.  So much so that I should give it to her permanently (insert winsome smile here).
