Organics and affordable–not really two words you expect to see together much, are they? One of the reasons I plant and tend a large garden here at the Frugal Village Homestead using mostly organic methods is to have a cost effective alternative for my family. Still I wind up buying plenty of regular (or “conventional”) produce at the store because a) I just can’t grown and preserve everything that my family wants and/or needs and 2) when I go shopping I have a budget to think about.
So it’s pretty exciting news to find out that Walmart’s exclusive “Marketside” line now has ORGANICS! Yup, fresh organic fruits and vegetables with Marketside’s excellent quality (we love their salad mixes) at great prices.
To make them easy to find Walmart has given them a nice purple label that helps them stand out on the shelf. Of course they also sport the USDA Organic seal as well.
Not only that, but they haven’t hidden them in some secret location in the store–you can find the Marketside Organic line right next to their conventional counterparts. When your hand goes to grab those cherry tomatoes, you can just shift it a few inches and grab an organic box instead.
I love knowing that there are so many more organic options for me when I’m shopping at Walmart these days–and I will continue to toss those pretty purple labels in the cart–at least for the things I haven’t grown myself.
