Star Wars. ahhh.  The original movie came out when I was 5, so I’m guessing I never actually saw it in the theater. I think I eventually saw it on laser disc years later. (yikes–remember those? Like the size of a record, but it was a movie. . . my mom would rent the player and the movie from a place when my dad was out of town at a conference and we’d watch them at home!). By the time I was in second grade The Empire Strikes Back was in the theaters. I remember my best friend saying he had waited in a line around the block to watch it–and he actually went to see it in the theater TWICE.
Star Wars figured heavily in the make believe games of my elementary school playground. Along with Dukes of Hazzard. . . but that’s another story. . .
It would be fair to say that there is quite a bit of nostalgia wrapped up in Star Wars for me. I’m so excited to see episodes 7-9 as they are eventually released, especially now that Disney is at the helm. Of course we have to wait a bit longer for the next installment, but until then Walmart wants me to tell you about the new Star Wars GAME. . . Battlefront!
