Who went to see the movie “Star Wars–The Force Awakens” in the theater? We did! We took the whole family all the way up to Syracuse NY (an hour away) during the holiday break just to see it on the big, IMAX screen. It was a great time–even Princess (who never really paid attention when we watched the original movies) thought it was a great flick.
Now you can own your very own copy of Star Wars the Force Awakens on DVD/Blu ray! Just head on in to your local Walmart for your copy.

Walmart sent me a copy of the DVD to enjoy and asked me to share my family’s own special viewing party with all of you.
Now I like a good theme party as much as the next gal–and I found all kinds of cute food and craft ideas on Pinterest. Storm Trooper Marshmallows. Light Saber Pretzels. Star Wars Rice Crispy Treats.
Yeah. Well life is sometimes a bit too busy for all that cuteness. I’ve got the kids going in a million different direction, an elderly father who has been having issues, an aunt and uncle in town visiting. . . you get the idea. I wanted cute, but fast. Sometimes it’s just fine to go with stuff that’s cute straight out of the box:

That’s right–I just scanned through the snack food section of my Walmart and found Star Wars themed Cheese Its, Star Wars Honey Grahams and Star Wars Fruit Flavored Snacks. I did make some “Party Popcorn” using blue and red chocolate melts to represent the colors of the lightsabers. Finally I added some red, black and white ballons from the party aisle, and Star Wars themed napkins. I saved a bit of money by going with the solid black non-theme plates.

Simple but fun!
To add to the excitement I picked up each of the kiddos a new Star Wars t-shirts from Walmart to wear during our viewing. There were T’s in the boys section, but I thought the mens shirts were so much more awesome. I picked up this Tie Fighter shirt in blue. It’s a mens small, which is a bit big for Buddy, but he’ll grow into it. The price? $7.50!
For Princess I picked up a “boy friend” T in the junior section with “Welcome to the Dark Side” on it. I figured she’d find it amusing.

Food, t-shirts and an awesome movie. As far as my tween and teen were concerned, the viewing party was a success!
