It’s time for another Great Value cooking party! Well ok, not exactly a party–Valentines Day is more about couples than big groups 🙂 You all know that I’m part of a collection of bloggers who get to come up with great ways to use Great Value products for the various holidays through out the year. For Thanksgiving I used pie crust, crescent rolls and biscuit dough to do some fun leftover “makeovers”, for Christmas I did some easy sugar cookies for my cookie swap and enjoyed the cinnamon rolls for a snack.
Today I get to tell you about my Valentines Day plans. I was given the assignment to use Great Value Sugar Cookie dough and Pie Crust.
As I mentioned the other day–I think of Valentines Day as being a special day to celebrate romantic love. However I do like to make holidays fun for the kids, so with the Great Value Sugar Cookie Dough I’m going to make some simple round cookies again (why mess with what works!):
Then I’ll use my Royal Icing recipe and decorate them with some hearts or other Valentines Day symbols.
For the real Valentines day “main show” I decided to try an idea I had seen multiple times on Pinterest. The fancy schmancy French name for it is “Brie en Croute”–That’s Brie in crust (it just sounds better in French doesn’t it?). To step it up another notch I’m going to add my homemade raspberry preserves. I’m not much of a fruit with savory fan, but that’s supposed to be a classic pairing, and who am I to argue with the French?
