Continuing on with my theme of late. . . another very popular New Years Resolution (we’ve already touched on eating better with my Smoothie post and getting organized with my Custom Dyed Basket Liner) is to get in shape. And while getting in shape is possible in your ratty old college sweatpants and a T-shirt of your husband’s that is all stretched out around the collar. . . well, and ensemble like that (and I use the word ensemble loosely) is not exactly anything that is getting you jazzed up to go work out.
Which is why Walmart asked me to write on some of their workout wear offerings! This time of year they always have an extra nice selection of items available because they know that folk start into their new workouts. In the past I’ve written about the Avia Moisture Wicking Workout Gear and the Danskin Now Performance Wear, so this time I thought I’d take a little different tact.
I’m generally more of a “Theater Mom” than a “Sports Mom”. Sure, Buddy played the local rec league soccer (remember my “Surviving the Soccer Sidelines“?) but neither one of the kiddos was interested in playing any modified or JV sports. That is, until this year.
Suddenly, Princess decided she wanted to play volleyball as a fall sport.

She was pretty darn good too, especially since she hadn’t ever really played it before. She enjoyed it so much that she wanted to play the local city rec team this winter.
Of course, that means she needs some new workout clothes for practices! Since Walmart wanted to highlight their workout wear I figured it was a perfect fit–Princess gets a new outfit, and we all get to see what Walmart has.
The first thing I noticed at my local Walmart was the burst of color in the athletic wear department. Pink. Teal. Cobalt blue, Flourescent yellow and orange. All kinds of great shades to beat those gray winter blues!

There also was a ton of pattern, especially in the spandex capri’s. Butterfiles. Purple camo. Flowers. You get the idea.
So what did Princess pick? She went with classics. Black yoga pants, a nice teal sports bra and a gray performance t shirt with some mesh venting in the back. A bit plain–but when you are as pretty as my daughter is, you look lovely in anything!
