I like supporting local businesses when I can–and believe it or not Garden Shoes Online (which sells not only shoes but gardening products of all kinds) is from my local area! A couple of years ago I got to tour the facility with some of my blogger friends–it was so interesting to see how a online retailer like that operates. I admit it–I geeked out a bit on the logistics side of it. Show me a conveyor belt and inventory system and I get all excited!
Garden Shoes Online has recently started carrying the Xtratuff line of daily shoes. The offered me a pair to check out and share with you all–and to make it even better, they gave me a $25 gift certificate to Garden Shoes Online to give away to one lucky reader! And everyone who enters will get a 10% off code 🙂
There were several styles of XtraTuf shoes to choose from, I chose the Chumrunner. Now I know that sounds like an odd name–but the company was initially just for boots–specifically for fishing boats. They expanded into “daily wear” shoes that double as boating shoes–hence the very “fishy” sounding name!
The Chumrunner looks like your basic old school tennis shoe–but it’s got a few differences from the old canvas tennie:
All XTRATUF® products are built with a Chevron non-slip, non-marking outsole. The Chumrunner’s sporty styling blended with it’s breathable mesh and neoprene comfort is designed to give you flexible, all-day comfort.
-
XTRATUF® Chevron non-marking outsole
-
Water resistant Nubuck leather uppers
-
Lightweight vulcanized construction
-
Cushioned removable insoles
And here I am wearing them:
These shoes do have a good non slip sole. I especially like the fact that they come with removable insoles–which means that I can take out the factory insole and put in my orthotics. (yeah-I’m broken like that) I have wide feet, and I felt that the toe box was narrower then what I would like–and since it’s not leather it won’t stretch over time–but I have worn them out for a full day of shopping without discomfort–so they weren’t TOO narrow.
And now on to the fun stuff–the giveaway!
