Victorian Pharmacy Episode 4 - TV Thursday

This week for TV Thursday we are watching the final episode of Victorian Pharmacy!

As a reminder, this 4 episode series is by the makers of the Wartime Farm series and features Ruth Goodman as the domestic/lifestyle specialist along with pharmacy professor Nick Barber and doctorate student Tom Quick as the pharmacy experts.

In this final episode the team takes pharmaceutical knowledge through to the end of the Victorian era. As pharmacists were a combination of medical professional and chemists, it makes sense that photography and dentistry (using a rather scary foot pedal dental drill!) are part of the Pharmacy’s new endeavors. For new products, condoms are made from sheep intestines, salicylic acid is produced, and they even create their own brand of perfume. As they close up shop they reflect on the experience and the lessons they learned.
