My New Laptop Saga

About a month ago my laptop died.  Completely kaput.

It was tragic because a blogger without a laptop is, well, practically nekkid!  On the other hand it was an older model from a brand that I had grown to hate (trust me, you’ve never heard of it and I wish I hadn’t either) so I was happy to have the chance to buy a new one.

I went to my local Best Buy-it was my first time in the store since it had opened just before Christmas.  I found the staff to be very knowledgeable & courteous-which is always a bonus.  The laptop gods must have been with me, because I was able to buy a floor model Toshiba Satellite that was on sale.  Because it was the last one and a floor model, I was told it would be 10% off the lowest marked price.  Well-when I brought it up to the register it rang up 10% off the lowest price and then they took another 10% off.

End result? a $799 laptop for $618.  Yes!

And I love this laptop.  It looks all shiny and new, plus it has an HDMI out port (and our tv has an HDMI in port) so I can play Hulu and Netflix on Demand on our big TV.  The kiddos and I have been enjoying a Dr. Who episode a night (via the Netflix), and hubs and I have watched some of the first season of Quantum Leap.

Oh wait, did I just give away what kind of dork I am?  Yes-I used to play Dungeons & Dragons too.

Great job on the laptop! I have a Toshiba too and it is a god-send for us bloggers. I’ve beaten the heck out of mine and it’s still going. Congrats on the great deal.

    Jenn,
My husband still runs a D&D game with some of the same individuals since he was 11, almost every friday night! He even does an online D&D game for his friends who still live in his hometown. Also he works for Games Workshop which is his other main “dork” hobby making his career dreams come true, we in fact owned a gaming store a couple of years ago, and he plans to do it again when he retires ten years from now. With all this information said, my husband is a “dork” and a “geek”, which makes me one through marriage! Don’t be so hard on yourself there are plenty of us out there…
Come on I use the name Amyrlin on the computer proving I am a huge Robert Jordan fan!! Have a good day!

Did you ever belong to the RPGA and go to cons?

    I did.

Oh, and I utterly adore Dr. Who. Does NetFlix have all the really old ones? Once we get it hooked up to the TV for streaming that was going to be my first shows to go find.
