Remember a few weeks back I gave you all a recipe for Homemade Shower Spray? Well reader Tarah sent me this great tub scrubber recipe:
Jenn,
I’d recommend this fantastic book called “Clean House, Clean Planet,” by Karen Logan– you can get it from a frugal reader’s best friend: the library She has multiple recipes, one great one for a tub scrubber is:
Mix
1 2/3 c baking soda
1/2 c liquid soap (like Dr. Bronner’s found at Trader Joe’s, e.g.)
1/2 c waterFinally add (last)
2TBS vinegar
Stir until lumps are gone. Add to your flip-top bottle (like a shampoo bottle). If it’s too thick, dilute more with water.
Simply squeeze on and scrub!
Thanks Tarah for sharing this with us! Do you have a frugal recipe (food or cleaning) you’d like to see featured on Frugal Upstate? We’d love to have you submit it!

After years of using store-bought sprays for cleaning my shower, I finally used a similar “recipe” to the one above. I was completely blown away by how sparkling clean my shower was. I just used baking soda, liquid soap and a squeeze of lemon and made a paste. I then dabbed my scrub brush into it and worked away. I will NEVER go back to store-bought brands again. I’m sold!

I was wondering if it is possible to make this in a bigger container and store it? I didn’t know if it would store well with the vinegar and baking soda combo 🙂 Looking forward to trying the scrub.

I think if you made too much you’d lose your fizz before you got around to using it all.

This really is the best cleaner ever!! Amy wasn’t exaggerating. I’ve never found a really good natural cleaner. Until now. It was like a commercial – i didn’t even have to scrub! Even the blue water stains came off right away.
Thanks for sharing!

Is T tablespoon or teaspoon?
Jenn @ Frugal Upstate says
It’s TBS or Tablespoon-thanks for pointing out that I wasn’t clear-I’ve gone back and fixed the recipe 🙂
