Coffee

I gave up coffee for Lent. I know, I know-how could a person do such a thing. Well I figured that it might actually help my migraines in the long run, and at least it was a limited amount of time 🙂 Of course I had screaming caffine withdrawal headaches for the first few days, but I’m ok now.

DH is still drinking coffee, and this morning when I went to make him a small pot I realized my coffee canister was empty. So I mixed myself up some more half-caf to put in the canister.

I switched DH and I over to half caf, or “lite” coffee several years ago (that way 2 cups of coffee only equals 1 cup of caffine). I used to buy the Folgers “Lite” brand, until one day I thought-duh-if I mix decaf and regular coffee in equal parts it’s the same thing. So now I buy Folgers or Maxwell House when they are on sale and mix them with the cheapest decaf I find (decaf is usually more expensive than regular). That way you get decent flavor and a cheaper price.

Wow, that truly is a sacrifice!

Me, I’d never drink decaf. I only drink one cup of coffee a day, anyway.

I found that refined sugar was a major cause of my migraines. Of course, before I discovered that, I was putting spoons and spoons and spoons of sugar AND flavored (in other words, sugared) creamer into my coffee. Good luck with them.
