Festival of Frugality #82

This weeks festival is held over at Mr Credit Card, and is done in a clever format as the discussion between a Dad and his spendthrift son. There are 26 great articles. As always, here are a few that caught my eye this week.

I always like posts about eating at home rather than out-One Money Dummy has a great article about slaying the eating out beast.

Money Smart Life wrote about how to Save Money by Spying on Business Owners. With a name that just reeked of espionage like that I just had to check it out. I was surprised to see that the article was about a haircutting chain.

Since I’ve been focusing on frugal fashion for the last few weeks, it was fun to see what It’s All About Appearances had to say about being picky about what you buy-“Is it worth the price” and “Buying awful clothes is a waste of money” are two phrases to remember and put into practice.

The Simple Dollar tells us that being frugal is fun, and that he sees it as a friendly competition against himself. Honestly, that’s the way I see a lot of what I do, almost as a hobby!

Of course, go by an read the rest of the great posts, and check out the festival next week at Money Walks

I’m glad you got something out of the spying on business owners post. Often times, if we can understand the methods that businesses use to get us to spend more, it can save us money!

    They use marketing techniques!! The
store is set up to make you go broke and make them rich!! You have to be prepared with a list, don’t impulse buy and stick to your plan. You can find deals on new clothes at Ross dress for less and TJ Maxx if you want designer fashions at a bargain. They have those nifty purses too!! Garage sales and thrift stores are helpful too but, if you want to keep up with the Joneses then those stores are it!! Good luck!! Annette P.S.They have those beautiful shoes I like to buy too!!
