Snow Day. Again.

Yes, that’s right. For the 3rd time this month the kiddos are home due to weather. Yankee Bill also is home for the day due to the weather. Let’s hope that Nor’Easter coming through on Sunday doesn’t cancel school on Monday. . .

This is what my car looked like after about 15 minute of snow. It is really coming down!

So instead of lamenting the fact that I am likely to only get done about 1/3 of the housework and chores that I intended to today, I am going to try to enjoy the fact that we get to spend extra time together.

As you can see, Yankee Bill has already spent some nice father/son time with Buddy -here you can see just a smidge of the massive train track/village that is set up around one of our THREE Christmas trees.*

So it’s grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup for lunch, and cookie making this afternoon (Oreo Cookie Truffles anyone?). We’ll also be coloring some thank you cards. I may even get a few gifts wrapped upstairs. . .

NOTE: We already had 2 trees, and my dear MIL gave us the third when she downsized to a smaller tree. We have strung lights and decorated them all without buying anything new. Also, the trains and village fall in the NOT FRUGAL BUT FUN category 🙂

I *think* I have an idea of whereabouts you all live, and I lived in that same area (downtown, on Oak Street) during the infamous winter of ’93-’94, where the first snow came in October and the last in April. We have pics of snow (not drifts, nor plowed piles) towering over the head of my 6′ tall husband. Crazy stuff.

Here in Philly where I am now we don’t get much of that kind of thing. I’ll be thinking of you this weekend!

Stay warm, girl. I know I’m laying low inside today, myself… waiting for this snow to finally STOP. Aah, the joys of living in CNY.

Very cute father and son. Please stay warm so, you all don’t get sick. I love to make those truffles too. Annette

Marsha-hmmm, lots of towns have an oak street! You are probably pretty close though. Yankee Bill was just talking with someone yesterday morning about the snow in 93/94. . .

Mrs W-Yup, that’s just the way it is here. YB didn’t start snowblowing until 6pm, he didn’t see the point in doing it when you’d just have to do it again. . .

Annette-They are a couple of cuties aren’t they? Oh, and too late on the getting sick-Princess brought a cold back from school and it is just running through the family. . . ah well, the joys of having preschoolers and primary school kiddos.
