My house is out of control. I have got to do something!

Today of the commencement of a week long “Operation Take Back the House”.

You aren’t going to be seeing much of me this week-I’m going to be spending each day on a room that is in dire need of help. After discussing my options with all you lovely folks over on the Frugal Upstate Facebook Page I decided that I’ll just post daily pictures & updates on the status of the organization rather than try to write this week.

If you are wondering how the house got to be so chaotic-it’s a variety of factors-but to me the biggest issue is that we still have a lot of things in this house that just don’t have a place they belong- so cleaning up isn’t just picking items up & placing them in their home-it’s an organizational challenge of figuring where they need to belong! It’s been much “easier” to stack them and wait till later…now later has arrived and the task is almost overwhelming.

Wish me luck-today I start with the guest room/catch-all.

I know exactly how you feel!!! I am wrting a huge (50 pg) paper for my final class to graduate with my BS. (along with work, two other classes etc) My house is gone to “hell-in-a-hen-basket” (shouldn’t even be surfing the web right now-but I love your posts!!) I know that in two weeks when this paper is handed in all can return to somewhat order….Meanwhile I will check up on yours and know that the end is in sight!

I know how you feel Jenn – I started working on this a couple weeks ago. I have a whole room of stuff[mostly neatly stacked in bins] that I have no worldly idea of just what is in there. Been excavating to find out. “Why did I save this?” is my new mantra. Good luck!

Donalyn-that’s my big problem, most of it is “gee, I don’t want to throw it out but it really doesn’t have a home” kinda stuff, which means it isn’t just cleaning or straightening, it is ORGANIZING & SORTING–which is a whole different ball of wax!

Take it a little at a time — get the kids to help!
    You’ll do fine.

In the meantime, I am missing your weekly menu post…it’s silly, I guess, but I LOVE these. They sound so practical. Don’t forget us out here.

Cindy-Thanks for the encouragement! And I won’t forget you guys. . . but I tend to get sucked into the internet so I don’t want to sit down and do “real” posts this week-I’ll start and then look up and find it’s 3pm and I haven’t done any work on the house! I really am bad about procrastinating! But I promise you-even if this project takes me into the next few weeks (which it will I’m sure) I will get the menu plan out next week!

Inspiring. If only I could put my day job – homeschooling – on hold and take back my house! Ah, well, perhaps I could put my evening job – surfing the net and playing games while watching tv with hubby (I like to multi-task my time wasting) on hold and take back one room, at least. I look forward to seeing your progress, nad your readers will be here when you return!
