Sometimes it takes a disaster to really make you appreciate family.
Today in my little corner of Upstate New York (near Binghamton) there is massive flooding going on all around me. Luckily my little village homestead is safe and secure, but families just blocks from me are being evacuated due to rising water.
At times like this family is the first thing on your mind. Is everyone all right? Are they safe? Do they need anything? We pick up the phone (when possible) and check up on those we love, and let those farther away know that we are ok.
But why wait? Why not make sure you keep contact and see your loved ones BEFORE it’s time to worry. What is it that keeps you from seeing your extended family more often?
According to a recent survey conducted by Libby’s Fruits and Vegetables, nearly two-thirds of Americans wish they could spend more time with their extended family–so for September Libbys Fruits and Vegetables is celebrating “Get Back to the Table Month” by encouraging families to pledge to reunite with their loved ones.
To make that even more attractive-one lucky family will receive travel and hotel accommodations to gather for a reunion dinner, total prize valued at $20,000. To enter, families can submit a family photo and short caption on the Family Reunion Contest tab at the Libby’s Table Facebook page.
This contest runs from Monday, August 29 through Friday, September 23. Remember, to enter you have to head over to the Libby’s Table Facebook page.
Libby’s will be selecting five finalists and asking America to determine the grand prize winner by voting on the Family Reunion Contest tab at the Libby’s Table Facebook page from Monday, October 3, through Friday, October 21, at 11:59 a.m. The winner will be announced during the week of October 31.
The survey results are based on 1,006 interviews conducted among Americans age 18-65+ in June 2011.
