Do you have a young artist in your family? Maybe you homeschool or are a teacher?  Well check out the Heinz Ketchup Creativity Contest!

For the last five years, Heinz has been sponsoring the Creativity Contest-where kids from K-12 compete not only to have their design grace the front of millions of Heinz Ketchup packets across the US, but also to win a $1,000 prize and an additional $1,000 for art supplies for their schools (and $1000 worth of ketchup).

Besides the 11 winners from various grade levels, there is also a grand prize winner who wins a $5,700 prize and an additional $1,000 for his/her school, his/her work showcased on Heinz Ketchup packets AND bottles across the country and a visit to their school by internationally-acclaimed pop artist Burton Morris!

Although the contest is set up in a format to be easily run by a teacher for a class (there are even lesson plans you can print out for all the age groups), individual students or Homeschoolers are welcome to enter (see note).

You just print out the Contest Kit–which includes the full contest rules, three different templates for the art & the color palette (you have to use colors close to the ones they print with)–and have your artist get to work.

Once all the artwork is submitted on March 4th, Burton Morris will pick the 3 top finalists from across the country in each grade, from which America will vote for prize winners from April 4-11, 2011.  Heinz will choose the grand prize winner.

Princess LOVES to draw, and is quite talented at it, so she is all excited to enter this contest.  She especially loves the fact that you can enter more than once!

So get your artwork done by MARCH 4th, submit it by mail or electronically, then vote for the artworks starting April 4th–and hope that your artist’s packet winds up in the Winner’s Gallery in May!

Good Luck!

Note: Individual students & homeschooled students entering need to make sure they fill out both pages 2 & 3 of the template, and fill out any requested information about their school and include the name of a teacher (or write “Homeschooled”)
