Here are some interesting articles I’ve run across this week:
Cathy at the Chief Family Officer summarizes an interesting article that was in the LA times about eating home vs. eating out. In a nutshell: Eating out in a midrange restaurnt was more expensive that eating in using high end ingredient bought in “snooty” grocery stores. Head on over and read “No Surprise” to hear about the whole thing.
Meg, a contributer over at All Financial Matters, compares using “everyday frugality” to “Big Ticket Savings“. Which are you? I think I am more of the “everyday” sort myself-although I do try to get the best deal possible on those big ticket items.
The Frugal Homemaker has been following the posts over at Debt Free Revolution about giving a teenage son a grocery budget. Her review is interesting, but what is even more interesting is her own personal list of what “gifts” her parents gave her.
Enjoy

Thanks for the mention, Jenn! BTW, I love the new background color (the magenta). 🙂
Interesting.Glad I found your blog. I am schizo on the everyday vs. big ticket…I think it’s when I tighten something up, I let the other one out. For example, I’ll authorize a new computer purchase and then make my husband pack his lunch every day.
But there have been weeks where I just can’t muster up the energy to cook dinner, so we’ll do one of the holy trinity of either Thai, Pizza, or Boston Market, and then I will return a new skirt I bought because I feel guilty. I guess I’m just seeing even stevens in the long run…
