Yes, you are still at Frugal Upstate! I’m trying a similar 3 column style but this one is from “Free Blog Skins“. What I really want to do is to get a patterned background, change the color of the sidebar boxes and insert a nice picture in the header. I’ll see if I can get a smart person help me figure this all out. Obviously it is possible because Green Pinky started out with this very template, and look at what she has now! Right now she’s my odds on fav for winning my contest!
Just a quick tip and trick for those of you messing about with your own templates-when you go to save your old template, do yourself a favor and cut and paste any HTML for special “widgets” that you have set up into a file in the “notebook” program that comes on your computer. Don’t try to use Word, it will attempt to reformat the code into actual English.
For example opened my layout section in the blogger dashboard where you just type in text boxes in a WISIWYG format for my blogroll, my library bag, my sidebar with all the graphics (like my coffee mug and most frugal blog award etc), then clicked on the “HTML” tag on the top and cut and pasted what I got there into notebook. Then when I put the new templates in it was easy to cut and paste the stuff right back in.
OK, now back to your regularly scheduled frugality.

I like this better than the yellow, and I really like the Green Pinky!
Thanks for the warning about not using Word to copy down your HTML. (I’m such a computer novice, though, I don’t know what the notebook is.)
And thanks for finding a template for me. I do love the layout and the colors.
Back to work!
Wow, your new colors shocked the stuffings outta me when I first saw it!! It looks kinda neat!!!
I am so grateful to se7en at Blogs Gone Wild. I think his templates are pretty versatile. I think your blog designs are looking real smooth, Jenn.
Thanks so much for the nice things you said about my blog. I wish I could claim html expertise… but it has been mostly trial and error. I also get tips from other bloggers from time to time. Thanks for all those links and tips you have provided, too! They have helped. If you think any of my trial-and-error woes can help you, feel free to ask. I’ll try to help. But remember to make a backup of your template in case I screw up the advice!
Well, this is a good microcosm, showing that God does work all things together for good, for those that loved Him… 🙂
My comment didn’t show up. But I said you shouldn’t feel bad about the pinata. Probably cheaper than trying to clean busted, melted latex off your oven! And it’s still a pretty frugal party, especially for this day and age!
