I’m a girl.  Yeah, I know.  Big surprise there right 🙂

It’s no surprise to me that “Girls Can” do anything.  My parents raised all five of us kids (four of which were girls) to believe that with hard work we could excel.  I went into the Army after college–and if  anyone there ever thought I couldn’t do something because I was a girl–well, I didn’t notice.  I was too busy doing whatever it was they thought I couldn’t!

Now that I’m a mom and have a daughter, I want to be sure that she grows up believing in herself and her abilities.  I don’t think that will be a problem knowing my Princess.  This is the girl who decided sh wanted to try wrestling in the 4th grade–even though she was the only girl and about half the size of everyone else.  This year in 8th grade she wanted to move up to advanced math–so she went to the math teacher and got him to agree that if she could do the homework that the advanced math class was doing (without being in class and while still completing the math homework for her current class) she could move up.  A week later I had an email from the math teacher asking my permission to move her to Algebra 🙂

So I think it’s pretty great that Covergirl and Walmart are highlighting all the things #GirlsCan do and asking us to share our stories!

The COVERGIRL #GirlsCan campaign promotes the empowerment of women. It’s about encouraging girls to break down barriers and turning “can’t” into “can.” Everyone has a #GirlsCan story and the COVERGIRLs are proud to share theirs.

To bring awareness to the #GirlsCan campaign, they have created  marked packs of COVERGIRL Flamed Out Mascara and Pro Mascara and put them on a #GirlsCan tower at your local Walmart.

Not only that, but Covergirl is donating $50,000 to Dress for Success.  Dress for Success helps disadvantaged women by providing them with professional clothes, a network of support and tools to help them with career development.  Since it’s development in 1997, Dress for success has helped over $775,000 women work towards self sufficiency.  Now that’s a lot of #GirlsCan power!

So pick up some of your very own #GirlsCan Covergirl Mascara (or get some to tuck in the stocking of someone who could use an empowerment pick me up!) at Walmart.
