Easter Goodies from Walmart

Easter is almost here, have you done your shopping yet?

Walmart sent me to the store to check out some of their newest Easter offerings.  I found plenty!

First off the baskets.  While they have always had a great selection of both traditional Easter baskets and character themed baskets, this year there were some adorable offerings that looked like something you might find in a fancy store at the mall.  I picked out these classy fabric lined baskets for Buddy (the blue and orange) and Princess (the green and blue).

When I was a kid the crowning glory of Easter candy was the chocolate bunny.  In those days they were always hollow–and I liked it that way.  As a kiddo I would nibble the top off of one ear and then fill the bunny up with jelly beans for my own fully edible jelly bean dispenser!  I like each of the kids to have a different bunny (which prevents the whole “you ate mine” problem) so I was glad to see several different hollow style bunnies.  There were a few sports themed ones and a traditional “Peter Rabbit”.  Of course there were quite a few solid chocolate bunnies, as well as chocolate Easter crosses.

I am not a Peep gal myself, but we’ve got several Peep lovers in the house to include Yankee Bill himself.  It was interesting to see all the new flavored Peeps that are out there.  Blue Raspberry, Sweet Lemonade, Sour Watermelon, Birthday Cake and Bubble Gum (which I didn’t get a photo of!).  There are also MYSTERY CHICKS!

Peeps now come in all flavorsThat’s right, Peeps Mystery Chicks!  What flavor are they? No one knows yet!  We did our own personal taste test.   I thought they tasted like grape.  Yankee Bill guessed fruit punch.  Buddy said Watermelon.  As you can see–no consensus was reached.  You’ll have to buy some of your own and see what you think.  They are supposed to announce what the flavor is sometime before Easter.

Finally I found these adorable chalkboard Easter Eggs.

The eggs come with their own chalk and can be decorated up however you please.  What a great way to let little kids decorate eggs in a relatively mess free way!  Or you can use them to spell out special messages like I did above!

So there you have a few of my fun Easter finds from Walmart–do you have a new favorite this year?

Oh goodness!! I saw the chalkboard eggs today and I am totally going to buy some!! Ah, there’s also some new bakery items {{if your store cooperates}} in the Bakery there are 12 count assorted EASTER cupcakes for $6 a dozen, some stores are carrying beautiful white Easter cakes, 1/4 sheets are $16.48 and 1/2 sheets are $19.98{ish}. Some of the fun cupcakes include these cute edible little chickies and tulips and there’s an assortment of bunny rings on others. Just today the orders went out for LOADS of white Easter themed cakes to be done up, so be expecting these soon!!
