Help Fight Hunger with the Golden Spark

Yesterday I told you a little bit about the Backpack programs through Feeding American, today I’m going to tell you how you can help.

Not only that, but helping is easy!

From now through October 145h, Walmart is going to randomly award 40 “Golden Sparks”–each Golden Spark is a $50,000 grant to either start or expand a backpack program in the community of your choice.  (Remember, Backpack programs help provide a backpack of food for children to help them make it through the weekend)

There are two simple ways to enter:

1-You can go to the Walmart Fighting Hunger website and click on “Golden Spark Promotion”.  A window will pop up asking you for your basic information and what community you are entering to support:

2-You can go to the Golden Spark App on the Walmart Facebook page and click on the “Enter Now” button.  You’ll get the same little pop up window asking you for your basic information and the community to support.

Walmart associates have even more of an opportunity to help.  Associates can compete together for their store to win 10 additional “Golden Sparks” totaling $500,000 for their communities by logging the most hunger relief volunteer hours during the life of the campaign.

You can take a gander at the full Official Rules at the Walmart website.

Our church has just spearheaded and helped to implement a backpack program in my community-so you know I’ll be telling everyone to enter in hopes that we win a Golden Spark.  Why not let all your friends know about this promotion?  Remember it ends on October 14!
