Is your wardrobe ready for spring?

The snow has finally started to melt here in Upstate NY.  Yay!  It’s amazing how if it’s 47 degrees in October you are piling on the sweaters, but give me a 47 degree day in March then I’m in shirt sleeves soaking up the sun.

Now that spring is here, it’s time to freshen up your house with some spring cleaning, and freshen up your wardrobe with a little “refresh” from Walmart’s Women’s apparel.

Walmart Spring RefreshWalmart sent me to the store to pick up a few things for spring. Of course there are tons of great fashions online at Walmart.com as well–I just like to try things on in store since I’m on the edge between two sizes right now.

What would refresh my wardrobe?  Well, I was sure I needed some new shorts and something a bit more dressy to wear.

The first thing I chose was this Faded Glory Midi Skirt.  I really was excited to see this. . . I’ve been loving the style of the maxi skirts (of which there are a ton again this season for just $12.94) but at 5’2″ they drag the ground on me.  Just too long, I don’t feel comfortable in it.  This was the first time I have seen the “midi” length, and I’m much more comfortable with this length.  I paired it with the White Stage Women’s Medallion Tank I had purchased for my Closet Essentials post.

That takes care of my slightly dressy outfit.  It’s actually sort of a cross between dressy and casual–I could wear it to church in the summer when things tend to be more casual, or out for a movie with the hubs.  I could also wear it shopping or around town without it looking too dressy, so I should get a lot of use out of it.  Sometimes I just like to wear a skirt!

For shorts I decided to go with Bermuda shorts.  When I was in the Army and my legs were killer I used to love short shorts.  Now that I’m older (and my legs looking like that a mere memory) I prefer something with a bit more length.  However I don’t buy capris much because as a short woman they tend to fall just a bit above my ankle–so instead of “capri” they look like “lady who hemmed her pants too short”.  That’s why I really like a Bermuda short.  The Faded Glory Bermuda Shorts were just under $13 and came in a cute faded camo pattern.  I like that it isn’t “in your face” camo–the washed out look makes it more neutral to me–so I can pair it with almost anything.  Like the White Stag Polo Shirt I chose in a bright teal .  If you haven’t noticed, I like pretty classic clothing styles–so polo shirts are a favorite of mine.  They are casual, but the collar gives it a bit more structure and class than a plain T shirt.  And at just $4.94  each I could pick up one of these in every color!

By the way–yes, I know my eyes are closed in the picture.  It was the best one out of a bunch.  It’s not so easy to take clothing photos of yourself!

What things do you normally buy to refresh your wardrobe for spring?  I like to pick up a few new colors and items that are very versatile.

I will have to check out those skirts. I find myself looking at those maxi dresses and starting to try them on then I remember, oh yeah I am short.

I know what you mean about the maxi skirts! Would love to wear them, but not fond of constantly holding my skirt up – or hemming stretchy cotton, for that matter! That looks like a great alternative.
