Walmart Challenge: A $100 Back to School Wardrobe

There have been a lot of fun posts I’ve been able to participate in for Back to School with Walmart.  The Walmart School Supply List Challenge, My Review of Walmart’s Back to School Closet Builder, and telling you about the Education Support Programs at Walmart.  But I think that this Back to School Wardrobe Challenge was my favorite–mostly because Princess was so thrilled to be given free rein to go shopping!  She’s my little fashionista!  And of course since she is starting 6th grade and moving to the middleschool building this year she felt like she needed a more “grown up” wardrobe.

We headed in to our local Walmart where I let Princess star in my Walmart Back to School Wardrobe Challenge video.  There were three reasons for this:  1) She likes being in the limelight 2) She’s just so awesome 3)I thought it would be a good learning experience for her to have to pick out clothing under a budget.

We were very pleased with the apparel section at our Walmart in Vestal NY.  Princess especially liked the wide selections of jeans, jeggins, and colored jeans.  She kept picking up various ones and squealing “These are SO CUTE”.  Her favorites from the shirt selections were tank tops (which they had in a wide variety of colors) and the gray & color striped bat wing sleeved shirts which are apparently “Very In”.

As Princess points out in the video–she has grown out of a lot of her jeans so we wound up with 6 pairs of pants/jeans and only 4 tops.  You can’t really tell from the picture, but the jeans are actually a dark blue pair, a black pair and a pair of “jeggins”–so they do each give a different look in person.  As for the shirts-most of her tops from last year still fit her and will mix and match well with the new pants.  Since we live in the north we do a lot of layering in the winter-those T-shirts and tanks can be worn over a long sleeve white t, or under a buttoned up shirt, a sweater or a hoodie.

All in all it was a great haul for $100!
