Looking for a cute gift that the whole family can use this year? Check out these “Family Talk” cards!
Each of the laminated cards on this ring has a “conversation starter” on it. After (or during) supper pull out a card and have everyone around the table answer the question. It’s a great way to get the whole family talking!
My kids love answering the questions and hearing what Mom and Dad have to say. And woe be to me if we forget about it-they are quick to remind us-“Hey, aren’t we going to ask the Family Talk questions?”
These cards would also be great for kids sleepovers, long car rides or family reunions.
The cards are made by “Around the Table Games”, and are available from their website and various retailers for about $10. There are different sets as well, such as “Grandparent Talk” and “Teen Talk”.
Now is your chance to win your own set of Family Talk cards!

I have 2 little girls and I really want to get the conversation started so that when they are teenagers it’s that much easier. I try to ask open ended questions instead of yes/no ones.

We have two little ones so talking is usually more Daddy and me. Although nothing gest us laughing like the 2 year old! We catch up on our day, what is happening later in the week, talk to the two year old about Christmas, etc…we always eat together!

Well, my girls are pretty chatty. But if they seem to be quit I usually ask about a specific friend or a specific subject. That usually does the trick.

We always ask our girls: “what was the best part of your day”; “what was the worst part of your day?” That usually gets them talking.

each night the kids have to talk about three things they did at school that day. If I forget, they are sure to remind me. they have come to enjoy talking about it and hearing what the other one has to say.

I always get the girls to tell me about 2 good or fun things that happened at school today, before all of the drama. This gets them going on something more positive. We also sometimes play court and take turns being the judge, prosecuting attorney, and defense attorney. Daddy and Grandpa get to be crazy witnesses to interview.
