This lady shows you how to can pork loin, round steak, chuck roast, ground beef and kielbasa.

Wow, that’s a lot of meat! She gives very clear and detailed directions for the process. The video was long enough to have to be cut up into two videos.

Canning Meat Part I:

Canning Meat Part II:

I’ve canned venison and took a class where we canned chicken and beef through the Cooperative Extension.  I never thought about canning hamburger or sausage.

Have any of you canned meat? I like the idea of shelf stable in case of power outages.

I have done chicken and hamburger. I love having it on the shelf. I don’t just use it for emergencies… I use it more as a convenience food. Nothing like grabbing a jar of hamburger and adding it to homemade hamburger helper. Super quick and easy.

We love canning. It is a good way to prep for the week or month and saves tons of daily cooking time during the week. We usually can chili, spaghetti, chicken curry, sloppy joes, chicken stock, and beans. buy the dried beans and can. saves tons of time! Thanks! Marc

Marc-You are so right! The nights when I just crack open a can of chicken and it’s all lovely and cooked–well it’s just minutes until supper time. Throw it in some spaghetti sauce, whip up a quick gravy or whitesauce, throw it in some broth for soup. Done in a flash. I keep saying I’ve got to do my own tutorial on canning meat–time to get on that!
